Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
We're dedicated to guiding our youth in sports, leadership, and spirituality. Proudly serving our entire community, we have a special focus on our under-served youth. Many families may not be able to offer extra circular activities to their children, and we’re here to change that. We want to eliminate barriers to entry so they can better themselves through academics and life skills. We seek to lift up ALL members of our community, irrespective of financial or logistical constraints.
A common goal for our coaches and mentors is to grow our kids through teamwork, unity, positive attitudes, leadership, and problem solving skills. We proudly serve children of all ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds, and are able to bridge cultural gaps that may be present. The access our kids receive to all areas of our community better prepares them in becoming the determined leaders we need to grow and nurture our city.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We currently offer several youth sports, including basketball, soccer, flag football, baseball, and track and field. Through the generosity of donors, grants, sponsorships, and volunteers, we've been able to assist any child who has come to us with financial restrictions that may have prevented them from participating in extra curricular activities. We plan on growing our organization to include facility for us to call home, where we can expand from sports into educational activities for our youth and the community. Through the help of our donors, we're working on financing a building that would allow us to offer programs such as clothing screen printing and catering, which would provide work experience for our kids, and finished products to help offset expenses.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We have been blessed with youth and parents who volunteer their time and energy to help us grow. Parents become donors; youth become coaches. Our greatest asset is our Rebel family who have experienced first hand the opportunities provided for kids who may have otherwise not been able to participate. Their willingness to contribute has helped grow CYAL into what it has become, and when they spread the word of what they've seen the organization do, the mission often resonates and results in outside contributions.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
To date, we have numerous basketball, baseball and flag football teams, a track and field program, and a soccer team. This year, we're expanding to include a softball team. We've hosted specialty clinics for different sports, and due to the success, are planning them more frequently. We're serving enough children at this point that it's time we find a place to call home, where we can expand on our existing activities, and venture into other areas of developing our youth. There is no end goal in sight - Only phases. Once we finish the next phase, we'll continue to explore new areas to include that would benefit our children and community.
