Digital Vibez, established in 2010, is an innovative nonprofit organization based in Palm Beach County that specializes in mentoring youth through dance fitness, technology, and the arts. Partnering with local afterschool sites, community based organizations, and summer camp programs, Digital Vibez is passionate about reaching diverse youth in underserved communities. Digital Vibez mission is focused on delivering engaging programs that promote S.T.E.A.M. and promote the adoption of lifelong healthy behaviors.

What we aim to solve New!

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports that 17% of American children are obese, with the prevalence of obesity even higher in children of color and those living in low income communities. In the State of Florida, 36.6 percent of children ages 10-17 are currently defined as overweight/ obese, ranking 4th in the United States. As obesity rates increase, so does the rate of type 2 diabetes, heart disease and other health related issues. Research has shown that increasing physical activity before, during and after school is one of the highest-impact approaches to reducing childhood illnesses related to obesity. To fight disease, Digital Vibez invites youth to dance and become more physically active!

Our goal is to enable youth to become more physically active on a regular basis to reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes associated with obesity & poor diet. We offer a series of six week, two-hour workshops that focus on wellness, nutrition, and overall fitness. Delivered once every week by trained instructors, Wellness Workshops, which are among our mix of program offerings, engage youth in fun physical activity. Creative expression like dancing has been shown to be a vehicle for stress reduction, an outlet to channel strong emotions in a safe way that can strengthen and unify a community.

KidsFit Jamathon & Wellness Workshops were developed in collaboration with key stakeholders of the county's Community Call-to-Action on Obesity; adheres to the Palm Beach County Quality Standards for Afterschool; and addresses numerous benchmarks of the Sunshine State Standards. Specifically, it covers the following major categories: dance, health education, writing, mathematics, music, and physical education. The key components of the program are as follows:

Introduction to Zumba, break dancing,hip hop, island dances, Spanish and line dancing
Exergaming (combination of physical activity and gaming)
Journaling techniques
How to use pedometers
Fitness tips
Nutrition education
Five-hour culminating event Other strategies include Fitness Fiestas, Digital DJ-ing, Literacy Through Lyrics, and Photo & Video Production.

The staff of Digital Vibez has extensive experience in working with youth via dance, technology, and the arts. They are a vibrant group of individuals committed to bringing students a healthier lifestyle. Research has shown that students who are disciplined in their art form will perform better in their school work. The Digital Vibez staff are committed to transforming lives through their mediums.

Digital Vibez, Inc. has been providing avenues for children to maintain a healthy lifestyle through physical fitness and recreational activities that incorporate technology and dance fitness. Digital Vibez, Inc has assisted more than 7,000 students last year in becoming better at computer literacy as well as fitness. The programs are designed to be mobile and accessible to students of all background and economic status. Next will be expansion of the programs to serve more youth in Palm Beach County.
