Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Colorado Veterans Project's goal is to host large-scale Veteran events throughout the entire State of Colorado while paying appropriate respect and homage to our Nation's heroes.
Denver Veterans Day's ultimate goal is to become the largest, event-centric Veteran celebration in the State of Colorado. Through the parade, run, and festival, we will offer ample opportunity for the community to personally thank Veterans for their sacrifice and service.
Our ultimate goal of the Memorial Day Run & March is to be the largest contributor of funds and food in order to feed homeless Veterans in Colorado.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
To achieve our strategic goals, we encourage teamwork among all Colorado Veterans organizations in order to maximize the results of our nonprofit nature. With the combined efforts of all organizations working together, our events will continue to grow and be able to benefit a larger community of Veterans. This support comes mostly in the form of marketing and volunteers.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Currently, Colorado Veterans Project is working in alliance with 125+ Veteran organizations in Colorado. Given our extensive network, we are able to reach a larger crowd of Veterans. This support allows us to spread the word of our events and programs and get a large portion of the Veteran community involved.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Colorado Veterans Project assumed control of the Denver Veterans Day Parade in 2014. Our vast experience in hosting special events allowed us to increase the participation of Veterans by 125% while increasing the audience by 320%. Our goal is to continue marketing the parade as a fun, family event where the public can personally thank Veterans for their service to our country.
In 2016, we raised 26,271 pounds of dry food items to donate to homeless Veterans. In 2015, the first year of our event, we raised 7,519 pounds of dry food items to donate to homeless Veterans. The food bank has continuously stated that the Memorial Day Run & March more than double their previous largest donation to date.
