Mission

Families in Action (FIA) is a grassroots 501(c)(3) charitable organization that serves Latina women and their families in the areas of health and education. FIA's mission statement was written by the organization's Latina participants themselves. It states: "To come together as women and families to promote health, well-being and knowledge, and to be role models for our children and community.” FIA provides physical activity opportunities, health & nutrition education, child programming, mentoring, and two-way cross cultural understanding and bridge-building. All FIA programs are designed and led by Latina women.

Physical Activity and Health Education Classes

FIA offers free culturally and linguistically appropriate physical activity classes for and led by Latina women, children and youth. Classes meet several times per week in safe and trusted locations that are accessible for those without transportation. Child programming that focuses on health, nutrition, socialization and physical activity takes place concurrently in the same location.
