What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
INDIA
Women in southern India were taught to crochet by Irish nuns in the colonial period. Their craft and livelihood has been decimated by the influx of machine made lace on the world market. Eternal Threads began its first project working with a fair trade organization to provide employment to women, particularly widows, by purchasing their products and helping to design new products for the modern marketplace. We also purchase hand block printed textiles from a women’s cooperative.
