Mission

The Houston Furniture Bank’s mission as a 501c (3) tax-exempt charitable organization is to furnish hope Making Empty Houses Homes by providing families with residential furniture and furnishings to improve sleep, mealtime, and home comforts to promote a happy and healthy lifestyle. Since 1992 the Houston Furniture Bank has been serving families as a steppingstone to improve living conditions resulting from poverty, homelessness, domestic violence, mental and physical health concerns, and natural disasters. The Houston Furniture Bank serves the Houston metropolitan area including Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, and Waller counties.

The Furniture Bank is focused on developing the infrastructure in the greater Houston area to ensure that families have the basic home furniture and furnishings they need. A good night's sleep in a safe and comfortable bed for all children is our mission.

Furniture Distribution

The furniture Distribution office and warehouse at the Houston Furniture Bank Main Campus is located at 8220 Mosley Road near Hobby Airport. At this 75,000 sq. ft. location furniture distribution operates as the core Making Empty Houses Homes. In 2020 a total of 15,012 pieces of furniture were distributed to families who visited with their caseworkers and selected furniture for their home. A second distribution and Furniture Outlet location, Houston Furniture Bank North, opened in October 2020 in Spring, Texas. This 43,000 sq. ft. location facilitates furniture distribution to the north side of the greater Houston eight-county area.
