Mission

A.S.A.P. (Americans Serving Abroad Project) Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health and education of deprived, resource limited rural communities in Africa. We accomplish this goal through short term mobile healthcare mission trips and a concurrent vulnerable children's program. We believe that change comes with positive human interactions and a sharing of culture, knowledge and understanding.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

ASAP's goal is to provide free healthcare and education to remote, under-served communities in Ghana Africa through short term mission trips. Our hope is to treat as many people as possible and to educate on prevention strategies to promote long-lasting change and improved health. We also aim to inspire children to stay in school and complete their education to realize their goals. We also hope to promote increased understanding and appreciation of differences in people from other cultures.

Our strategy for reaching our goals is to recruit compassionate healthcare professionals and other volunteers to participate in our short term mission trips to provide free care, treatment and education in a respectful and compassionate manner to those living in resource poor communities in Africa. We aim to have local healthcare providers working side by side with our volunteers to allow a mutual sharing of knowledge and ideas to result in a mutually beneficial experience. We also allow for many opportunities for positive interactions and sharing of culture between volunteers and local people to promote increased appreciation, understanding and acceptance of their differences.

ASAP partners with a charity organization in based in Ghana and run by local Ghanaians. In this way we are able to provide the most beneficial experiences for both the volunteers and the people who are most in need. We work closely and cooperatively to reach our mutual goals.

We have provided care and treatment to thousands of people, many of whom have never seen a medical doctor. Lives have been saved. Education and prevention strategies have been provided. We teach children how to properly brush their teeth and why it is important. We have taught them how to care for their wounds to prevent life-threatening infections. We have instructed people with chronic health conditions on lifestyle changes that can improve their health. We have provided water filters and taught people the importance of drinking clean water.

We have accomplished a great deal, but improvements can always be made. We hope to recruit more medical providers, dental providers, opthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to add to the services we can provide.
