COURAGE GAMES

Problem: For a multitude of reasons the Veteran/warrior and the First Responder have gradually become a separate class, increasingly distinct from the public they are and were sworn to serve, protect, and defend. Solution: Commencing in Southeast Florida, the Courage Games will expand to five other locations in Florida. The Courage Games has four team sports in which all teams are required to have at least one veteran/warrior or first responder and one civilian on their roster. THE GOAL - Provide a platform that facilitates the connectivity and networking possibilities between those have taken the oath to serve, protect, and defend with those who have not.

#1. VETS AS REFS - There is a dire need by the Florida High School Athletic Activities Association for high school and middle school referees. Prior to the Courage Games, selected veteran/warriors will receive an orientation on the physical, social, and financial benefits of becoming a high school referee and then be processed into the FHSAA official’s program. THE GOAL - Initially supply to the FHSAA and SE Florida’s youth sport leagues 50 certified FHSAA referees who are Veteran/warriors.

MILITARY ATHLETIC COMBINE (MAC) - Of the 51% of eligible Veteran/Warriors who use their GI Bill to continue their post-secondary education., only half of them graduate. The MAC, an NFL type combine, will showcase the athletic abilities of eligible Veteran/Warriors in front of coaches from Florida’s NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA colleges and universities, thereby encouraging the veteran/warrior to bring his/her leadership and maturity to a new team while continuing their education. THE GOAL - Initially get 50 Veteran/warriors in SE Florida to continue their education as student-athletes.
