Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Of course our long-range goal is World Peace and we believe the only way this can happen is for individuals to learn to respect themselves and others in every way, including race, gender, religion, sexual preference, etc. As an individual better manages his or her life by becoming more skilled in making decisions, including financial areas, and is able to control any negative emotions, one is more calm and respectful and open-minded. These attributes can lead us toward a more balanced and respectful future. It also is important that each of us becomes respectful of our planet and, therefore, behaves with more awareness of how we affect our environments. We believe green building and green actions are necessary to protect our world.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Individuals are responsible for their own actions. However, education can give one the knowledge necessary to better plan, monitor, and control one's actions. Practicing skills related to such knowledge can help a person physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. We do NOT propose force. Instead, we believe education and information are the keys to individuals making positive changes in their lives, relationships, decision-making processes, and communities. Hopefully, individuals become more respectful of the self and of others and also behave in more compassionate, understanding, and environmentally acceptable ways.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Using our lives as examples is important to members of our Board. Also, discussing and implementing positive actions and planning strategies leads to our providing classes and materials, such as worksheets, publications, and website information that can help individuals, if they are willing, to improve and better manage their lives. We always offer encouragement to individuals to not simply accept what others say but, instead, to give thought to information taken in and verify the source, and if it is viable, to ONLY THEN act upon it.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We began in July, 2014, and our 501(c)(3) designation has limited us to a maximum of $4,000.00 each year for the first two years. We have not reached even that income. Our goal is always to be within the law and to follow the law 100% and, therefore, we have not applied for grants so that we would never go over that IRS maximum. We hope once we reach July, 2016 to receive money to buy land and pay for construction, as well as purchase furnishings and other items we need in order to establish our own school. At that time, we can add tutoring to our program list. In order to obtain the funding we need, 2016 will be a year of grant-writing and fundraising.
