Mission

Raise funds support the operational costs of the Hampshire College Summer Studies in Mathematics , to provide financial aid to students enrolled in HCSSiM, and to help ensure the continuation of HCSSiM; and to support the goals below: (i) The continuation and development of HCSSiM as a Hampshire College program; (ii) Enhancing communication within the HCSSiM community; (iii) Maintaining and developing relations between the individuals operating HCSSiM and Hampshire College; (iv) Enhancing HCSSiM’s visibility and its impact on secondary school students and teachers and on mathematical pedagogy generally; (v) Supporting outreach efforts to identify students from underrepresented groups

We are trying to provide a sustainable funding source for the program

Fundraising from alumni (about 2000 alums) Fundraising from corporations that have a strong interest in mathematics education.

We have a board of active participants some of whom have considerable experience in fundraising. We have the active support of a loyal alumni group and of the founding staff of the program.

1. Raise enough money to subsidize the 2020 summer program - we have just started this in December 2019. 2. Raise money for an endowment - 1.7M is needed for a long term spend down. We have had conversations with alumni who have indicated but not pledge approximately 1/3 of this amount.
