What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

All too often the family support network for those serving our country – either as a member of our armed services or as a first responder – can be overlooked or forgotten. As a nation, we are beginning to discuss and understand how a life of service and sacrifice can negatively contribute to frayed marriages and fractured families. Together our work is creating a positive effect for those families by providing much needed support. At CKFF, we do not believe serving your country or your community should mean sacrificing your family.

Our programs

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Date Night Out

Our Date Night Out Program provides an opportunity for military and first responder couples to come together in a community environment to have fun and remember that shared, and joyful experiences are an essential component in healthy marriages. It is also an opportunity to meet other service couples and share those “me too!” stories and know they are not alone in dealing with the unique challenges that a life of service hands out.

The Date Night Out program is an opportunity for CKFF and community partners to say “thank you” to military and first responder married couples and to raise continued awareness about the challenges these families face.

Revitalization Retreats (RR) are the flagship program at the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation and are directly inspired by the personal experiences of Chris and Taya Kyle.  These Retreats represent a unique opportunity for military and first responder couples to downshift from the intensity of mission-focused life of service and reconnect with a weekend all to themselves.

Chris Kyle Frog Foundation Revitalization Retreats range from quiet countryside weekends to rock star events. CKFF’s goal is to provide married Military and First Responder couples with one-on-one time to enrich their relationship and remember what they love about each other.

Chris Kyle Frog Foundation accepts nominations on a rolling basis. Military and First Responder members or their spouses can nominate; or a nomination can be put forth on behalf of a married service couple.

The Chris Kyle Frog Foundation Empowered Spouses Retreat (ESR) brings together military and first responder spouses from all over the country for a weekend filled with inspiration, new friends, personal and group challenges, and professional guidance.

Empowered Spouses Retreats are often held in remote settings such as Wyoming and Georgia where service spouses can get away from the everyday hustle, spend time in nature and practice mindfulness.

During the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation ESR, spouses are provided opportunities to step outside of their comfort zones by trying new activities such as archery and clay shooting. Spouses also have a chance to gain guidance from a licensed professional counselor during coaching sessions and learn to be vulnerable around other service spouses who are likely dealing with the same demands service life places upon them.

Mastering Your Marriage offers a unique approach that combines retreat and respite with new tools that help couples truly begin to thrive in their service marriages. Service marriages are unique, and no one knows that better than our military, veteran, and first responder couples. CKFF knows that if service marriages are going to truly succeed, they need marriage curriculum that is equally unique. To support this, CKFF is partnering with the Baylor University Diana R. Garland School of Social Work to offer a program that empowers couples to create a new vision for their marriage and family.

All accommodations, meals, services, and materials are provided at no cost to participants.

PHASE ONE: Orientation Retreat
Couples will join the CKFF Family and Baylor University at an orientation event that provides a retreat from the day-to-day intensity of service lifestyles. At MYM Orientation, couples will lay a positive foundation by exploring the distinct challenges that are unique to a service marriage with MYM Coaches as well as other couples committed to thriving in a service environment.

PHASE TWO: Marriage Enrichment
Couples will continue to learn new skills through a monthly web-based curriculum that provides the opportunity to dive deep and learn more about thriving through service. This phase also includes ongoing contact with the CKFF and peer mentors, as well as some fun (and possibly sexy) date –night –out homework assignments.

PHASE THREE: Capstone Connection
A Capstone Event in the spring of 2019 provides couples with the opportunity to reconnect with the CKFF team, and the peer mentors as well as each other as they celebrate the new skills required to have a joyful, rich and abundant marriage.

CKFF and its partners believe that military, veteran, and first responder couples need marriage support that fits in with their busy lifestyle. The MYM curriculum will be delivered in an innovative way that is both flexible and convenient. We want couples to have every opportunity to begin to feel a sense of mastery and confidence in their marriage. MYM topics will include a combination of marriage skills that are research-based and address specific challenges military and first responder couples face. By investing in both the family and the community, MYM hopes to bring lasting, self-sustaining change to entire communities.

The Chris Kyle Frog Foundation’s vision for programming is one that is strategic, collaborative, and evidence-based. Over the last four years the Foundation has developed an extensive network and well-rounded resources. CKFF’s unique and innovative programs have proven effective in keeping services marriages together, strengthening the family unit, and having a ripple effect on future generations. Our long-term vision includes programs that help to build stronger relationships between military, veterans and first responder marriages as well as the communities in which they live and serve.

The Chris Kyle Frog Foundation welcomes approaches from Corporations that see a fit between their organizational objectives and the Foundation’s mission and vision

Since 2014, the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation has impacted 1,800+ individuals in the service community. Unfortunately, we are only able to help roughly 15% of couples who reach out to us for retreats.
