Our programs

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Church Planting

We believe God's plan A is to minister to this world through the local church, and there is no plan B. Para-church organizations are great, but only to the extent that they serve the local church. As a result, we have launched a church plant in Kampala, Uganda called The House Church. The ministries of Benjamin House are realized and multiplied as they flow from this church plant. The House Church is also the primary mechanism for training and encouraging local pastors to lead the charge in this great battle for the children of Uganda.

Our sponsorship program is unique and seeks to preserve families. Not only do you get to constantly interact with your sponsored child, but your dollars also go to change a family, not just provide for that child. The structure of our sponsorships encourages families to develop a skill, gain employment, and be able to provide for themselves in the long term. We work directly with them to develop a sustainability strategy to help life them out of the cycle of poverty they are caught in. Another distinguishing factor of our program is that 100% of your monthly sponsorship donation goes to your child. Zero dollars are spent from that money on US operations and administrative overhead.

Believing that the greatest need of Uganda is a well-trained, well-equipped, Spirit-filled church, we will provide affordable training to area pastors, youth pastors, and other staff members, including the establishment and planting of missional, Gospel-centered churches. This fulfills the third mandate of our mission statement and affects mandates 1 and 2 for long term sustainability.

Then there are the families that have already fallen apart; children who are already without parents, living on the streets of Kampala and sleeping on the sidewalks at night. Roughly 7,000 children live on the streets of Kampala. These children don't just need homes. They need a place to restore their hearts, souls, bodies, and minds. Seeing this overwhelming need in the heart of Uganda, we sought out to restore families through Transitional Homes. In these homes, orphans receive counseling and love from our social workers and House Parents. There are no more than 8 children in a home at one time and we aim to find a forever family for each child within 6 months.

Economically disadvantaged people

One of the best ways to solve a crisis is to prevent it from happening in the first place. As such, Benjamin House has developed The Uprising. The Uprising is a strategic plan of school clubs, social activities, teaching and training programs, camps and retreats, and mentorship programs designed to target teenagers and help them make good, healthy life choices. If we can make an impact on the choices of Uganda's youth, we can help stop this cycle of fatherlessness and poverty.
