We Teach Kindness
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Hate crimes have a global presence and have changed the way we see the world. We want to stop hate crimes and to do this we must eliminate fear. Fear is eliminated with education, respect and understanding. It is with this lens that Faith Always Wins poses the following questions: Can we create a sense of belonging in those who feel marginalized with acts of kindness? How many touches does it take to not only spark intrinsic motivation but to believe a broader world vision and garner a willingness to act in a deeper loving and kind way? How can we increase long-lasting, meaningful civil dialogue? How do we move a person, deep seeded in fear and hate, to respect, understanding and kindness? Our theory of change stems from the vision to stop hate crimes. To stop hate, we must eliminate fear. Fear is eliminated with education, respect and understanding. This is what motivates our every action and step towards engagement and kindness.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
SevenDays Make A Ripple, Change The World
Our Kindness pillar is the SevenDays® Make a Ripple, Change the World annual event. Engaging in acts of kindness though our seven themes – LOVE, DISCOVER, OTHERS, CONNECT, YOU, GO & ONWARD, we provide opportunities for action and growth in an interfaith community in the month of April (the month the murders took place). We provide opportunities encouraging all people to increase kindness through knowledge, mindset and behavior. The opportunities are learning communities, where we invite people to a safe environment, allow space for civil discourse, listen openly to one another, question with curiosity rather than judgement and strive to understand worldviews different from our own.

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our mission is to promote dialogue for the betterment of our world through kindness, faith and healing.
Our values are: Dialogue, kindness, respect and education. Our creation of learning communities nurtures our values.
Ultimately, we want to STOP hate crimes. Until this can occur, we place ourselves in a position to bridge the gap from a trauma related incident(s) to healing. Healing takes more than time, it takes effort.
Our Kindness pillar is the SevenDays® Make a Ripple, Change the World annual event. Engaging in acts of kindness through our seven themes: LOVE, DISCOVER, OTHERS, CONNECT, YOU, GO and ONWARD. We provide opportunities encouraging all people to increase kindness through knowledge, mindset and behavior.
Our Faith pillar encourages students and adults from different faith and non-faith traditions in civil discourse for the purpose of discovering differences and commonalities.
Our Healing pillar encourages ALL OF US to take care of ourselves emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually on our YOU day which is Day 5 of the SevenDays Make a Ripple Change the World experience.
As our founder speaks nationally about overcoming hate with our platform of kindness, faith and healing is enhanced. Increasing the number of people willing to engage with someone different than themselves, either by faith, culture or circumstances continues to have a powerful effect on our core reason for existence. Our vision to expand nationally becomes clearer to us with each engagement we provide, with the sole intent of discovering our individual stories and the purpose of finding our commonalities so that we combat fear and hate in the world.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Each activity, engagement and presentation created by Faith Always Wins Foundation is geared to stimulate dialogue amongst all people: faith, non-faith, values and spirituality, to cultivate a more religious pluralistic community that fosters education, thereby creating a more peaceful and culturally competent society. Highlighting FAW’s three pillars is key to understanding our mission and our strategies to stop hate crimes. Through a combination of placing our events in various locations of the Greater Kansas City Metro area we are engaging marginalized population with people whom they would not normally converse. Hispanic, low-income, African-American and Hindu populations were involved in 2019. Secondly, our Faith pillar engages students and adults from different faith and non-faith traditions in civil discourse for the purpose of discovering differences and commonalities. Lastly our Healing pillar focuses on caring for of ourselves emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually through various activities presented to adults and youth on Day 5 of YOU during the SevenDays annual experience.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Faith Always Wins is grounded in a deep compelling story of grief and loss for our Founder and her personal experience moving through the murders of her father and son. It is here the Foundation rises up to bring healing, kindness and education to all who are touched by this powerful mission. FAW's ability to gather as a thriving organization is built on a passionate staff, a fantastic community of volunteers, and general support of the Greater Kansas City area.
While our creativity, innovation and volunteers are plentiful we lack financial capability to expand our presence regionally or nationally. In summer 2019 our monthly campaign SevenDays® to 365Days created messaging to our followers about the need for year-round sustainability. This campaign is gaining momentum and is proving to be successful. Securing nationally known speakers, providing highly thought of educational programs and the ability to increase our staff presence are each integral in reaching our 5-year goals. We are eager to gain momentum by securing financial commitments from the private and public sectors, small businesses, individual donors, and seeking grant resources.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Our annual event, SevenDays® Make a Ripple, Change the World celebrated five years in 2019. The depth and reach of our kindness and interfaith activities are in eight cities; Kansas City, MO – Parkville, MO – Independence, MO – Overland Park, KS – Leawood, KS – Lenexa, KS – Olathe, KS and Prairie Village, KS. Our Kindness Youth Leadership Team numbering 21 high school students provided hands on assistance in all areas of event planning while receiving mentoring from an adult committee chair person.
Our Kindness Youth Leadership Team of 20 - 25 participants in 2019 – included high school students of various worldviews interacting, learning and understanding one another
Next, we are working toward sustainability through several channels. We are submitting grant applications for project, event and administrative needs. We are launching a monthly sustaining members campaign in late July 2019. We are focusing a few months in advance for Giving Tuesday and Year-end giving to enhance our donations.
Our board of directors is moving from an advisory board to a roles-based board while our diversity has expanded.
We continue to engage our local community with intent to move outwardly for regional exposure and eventually to national and international exposure. Every human needs kindness, faith and healing.
