Economic Vitality

The Economic Vitality Committee is charged with building on Downtown’s assets to strengthen investment and promote economic vitality. The role of the Economic Vitality Committee is to support individuals and businesses that have already invested in Downtown Hillsboro, while identifying business opportunities and attracting new investors and/or businesses.

The Promotions Committee’s purpose is to entice locals and visitors into Downtown Hillsboro to shop, dine, eat, recreate, utilize personal services, and be entertained. The role of the Promotions Committee is to provide and manage the marketing avenues for HDP and the collective business district that is served by HDP, to encourage customer traffic and bring attention to the positive Downtown attributes. In addition, the committee supports the infrastructure necessary for the other committees to do their own marketing – i.e. volunteer recruitment (Organization) and investor recruitment (Economic Vitality).

The Design Committee’s purpose is to preserve and enhance Downtown’s buildings, landmarks, and public spaces while creating a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment focused equally on the desires of the businesses and the community members. The role of the Design Committee is to identify ways to attract visitors to Downtown Hillsboro because of the ambiance and atmosphere, while being proactive in preventing and addressing deterrents to visitors, shoppers, and investors.

The Organization Committee is responsible for supporting the staff and the Board of Hillsboro Downtown
Partnership through organizational and system development, while working to ensure that the business
of HDP is done in responsible, relevant, and timely ways. The role of the Organization Committee is to provide support and resources to ensure the staff, Board, other committees, and task forces can do their work efficiently and effectively. Although the Board of Directors carries legal and fiduciary responsibility for the organization, the Organization Committee serves a leadership role in this area, making sure appropriate policies, best practices, processes, and procedures are supported and followed.
