What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

MEOW co. is working toward making Kern County, California a No-Kill County for cats & Kittens. For the last several years, Kern County has been the highest kill county for abandoned cats & kittens in the country. We're mitigating this problem by rescuing felines that at the most "at risk" for being euthanized in musical shelters and finding them new homes through our adoption programs. We also work along other agencies by providing support for spay/neuter for lo income homes as well as assistance with the Trapping, Fixing and Releasing of feral felines.

Goals & Strategy

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

MEOW co. is aiming to make our local county (Kern County) a No-Kill county by 2020 as well as municipal shelters as safer environment for abandoned felines. Which also includes providing veterinary care for pets who are at risk of being euthanized or surrounded into shelters due to no/minimal finances for care.

Our primary strategy for accomplishing our mission is to not only rescue the at-risk felines in municipal shelters and finding them homes through adoption, but to work along side partnering agencies via a No-Kill coalition.

Our capabilities for reaching our goal is a strong community presence as well as proficient marketing support from staff, and digital programming skills, which allow us to have great public facing sites that provide adequate information and a clean user experience. We also operate a small to medium volume veterinary clinic with surgical and radiological capabilities.

Within one fiscal year (2017) our organization and no-kill cat shelter has rescued almost 800 felines from kill shelters and successfully found homes for more than 650 of them. This has all been done with volunteers, donations from the community, and no paid staff. As of 2020, the organization has rescued more than 2,000 cats/kittens from local shelters and provided veterinary care for more than 750 pet families.
