What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

The Number of human trafficking victims in Alabama exceeds the number of beds. It is estimated 5,700 children will be placed into non-therapeutic care, unable to tend to their needs. As a result, more than 80% return to a life of victimization.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Blanket Fort Hope will be able to provide beds and care for 9 of these victims initially. With the handful of additional beds proposed by our ministry partners, even these are not enough. But they are a start.

1) Provide child survivors with essential services by building a 9-child Restoration Home.
2) Equipping industry professionals to compassionately respond using our accredited 3 hour training for prevention
3) Demonstrating a loving Christian witness through community engagement and discipleship using our community training and resources.
4) Apply for our license and RFP through the state

Our Executive Director is well equipped and plugged into our local communities. She has built strong relationships with industry professionals, law enforcement, and most importantly, DHR. As a result, we are positioned to provide the state of Alabama with solutions to the unique problems associated with child trafficking survivors.

We are months away from closing on a 73-acre piece of property in Columbiana, AL, and are partnering with social workers, researchers, DHR, law enforcement, educators, and local ministry foster-care professionals to craft a program that focuses on restoring the minds, bodies, and hearts of these children first.

We have raised 45% of the fund necessary to purchase 73 acres outright and remain debt free. We have partnered and consulted with Shelby County DHR to ensure our plans are cohesive with their own, providing for a seamless integration in licensing.

To date, we have trained over 7500 individuals across Alabama using our proprietary program. We have poured over 400 hours and partnered with survivors, law enforcement, and social work professionals to ensure we train individuals to respond compassionately to these children.

Data
  • We review compensation data across the organization (and by staff levels) to identify disparities by race.
  • We ask team members to identify racial disparities in their programs and / or portfolios.
  • We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
  • We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
