Program 1

MAPB conducted a leadership development program, the MAPB Fellowship Legacy Program, to train and support mothers directly impacted by police brutality. Through the program, the Fellows network with other mothers, learn new skills, and gain broader experiences that will help them to become more effective leaders in their respective cities and, working in coalitions with others, in a larger movement to change policing and improve social and economic conditions in the nations historically marginalized communities. This program became in 2021 our primary initiative for developing a network of families among those who have suffered directly from police misconduct and violence. Started in October 2021, the program is operating in 10 U.S. cities.
