Goals & Strategy
Learn about the organization's key goals, strategies, capabilities, and progress.
Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
We want to provide the public with the opportunity to visit our collections, learn from our staff, and share in the history of the development of military food. In doing so we'll be preserving a piece of our history.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We will be building a board of directors with key skillsets and experience, fundraising, working with volunteers, seeking artifact donations, and applying known preservation techniques and technology.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Our staff is dedicated to providing the time and effort necessary to continue moving forward with our goals at an acceptable, but still ambitious pace.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have successfully obtained a sizable series of collections relevant to our mission as a museum dedicated to the preservation of military food artifacts and information. These items are on loan from several sources, with the intention of permanent purchase when it becomes financially feasible for the museum to own these collections directly.
From early July, through late December 2015, The Military Ration Museum produced an exhibit of rations and related errata that was on display to the public at the Montana State University Library. The Director of Special Collections managed and secured the exhibit for the nearly sixth months it was on display.
We have not yet completed our board of directors, and have yet to begin our primary fundraising drive for our base needs.
