What we aim to solve

Our community-based hunger relief program, Combat H.U.N.G.E.R.(Helping Under-served Neighborhoods to Grow & Eat Regularly), focuses on the low-income & impoverished population of under-served areas within Nassau County. Our program encourages critical thinking and to cultivate a cohesive identity in order to lay a foundation for future explorative and a programmatic work to eliminate food. Food insecurity doesn't mean abject hunger, but it does mean that people will make trade-offs about whether to skip a meal.

With our project, using an 8 to 10-week timeline, the outcome of Combat H.U.N.G.E.R.'a impact will be able increase the availability and utilization of nutritional assistance and hunger relief programs, which will provide a better means to ensure better nutrition and reduce the incidence of hunger among the under-served population, especially the elderly, of Nassau County. With the strong development of community involvement and strategic partnerships, through our research and planning, will produce positive outcomes for long term success for Combat H.U.N.G.E.R.
