Mission

Preparing active duty military members & their families to live and work in Maine. Providing a pipeline of quality talent for Maine's workforce. Boots2Roots is the only organization in Maine preparing active duty military members and their families to live and work in Maine. In fact, Boots2Roots starts working with transitioning military members up to a year before they transition which we believe is crucial in attracting them to Maine. Boots2Roots is generating significantly better results than the national averages. We have a consistent employment rate of 85 percent within 8 weeks of arriving in Maine, 100 percent within 20 weeks, and a 90% first year retention rate. The average duration of all unemployment in the U.S. is 22.1 weeks, and 56% retention rate for first post military job.

Boots2Roots

Boots2Roots works with active duty military members and their families who are planning to transition to Maine, up to a year before they come to Maine. We provide personalized self-assessment, resume, and interview coaching, peer mentoring, Maine business connections, and local networking.

Boots2Roots’ two primary goals are that transitioning active duty members will:
1) Find meaningful employment within two months of arriving in Maine
2) Remain in their first post-military job for at least one year

In addition, our peer mentors help our Teammates connect with all necessary community contacts before & during transition to Maine. For example, realtors, veterans’ organizations, school referrals, industry contacts, etc.
