Mission

WE ARE DEDICATED TO SUPPORTING THOSE LITTLE DOGS IN SHELTERS WHO ARE IN NEED OF MEDICAL OR BEHAVIORAL ASSISTANCE. THIS PROCESS HAS A TWO-FOLD BENEFIT: IT PROVIDES IMMEDIATE RELIEF FOR THE DOG, AND ALLOWS THE SHELTER TO DIVERT TIME AND RESOURCES TO OTHER ANIMALS. HLD PROVIDES MEDICAL CARE, COMFORT, LOVE AND A SAFE HAVEN FOR DOGS IN NEED, AND UPON RESCUE WE IMMEDIATELY HAVE ALL OF OUR ANIMALS VETTED. HLD NEVER DETERMINES THE OUTCOME OR DIAGNOSIS, AND RELIES ON OUR SKILLED, TRAINED AND EXCELLENT DVM'S. THOSE WITH MINOR AND TREATABLE MEDICAL NEEDS AND DISABILITIES ARE PLACED IN THE LOVING CARE OF FOSTERS UNTIL THEY ARE ADOPTED. OUR MORE SERIOUS MEDICALLY CHALLENGED RESCUES ARE PLACED IN LOVING HOSPICE/LONG TERM FOSTER CARE OR ARE GIVEN A PLACE IN THE HLD MOTHER HOUSE FOR AS LONG AS NEEDED.

Senior and Special Needs Dog Rescue

We are an all breed, all foster based rescue, specializing in rescuing small dogs with behavioral and medical issues from local animal shelters, although we sometimes take in owner surrenders and dogs from other rescues if the need arises. We are dedicated to supporting those little dogs in shelters who are in need of medical or behavioral assistance. This process has a two-fold benefit: It provides immediate relief for the dog, and allows the shelter to divert time and resources to other animals.
