Education & Outreach

We host and sponsor educational events, training opportunities and publications that provide practical instruction on the selection, use and maintenance of native plants for sustainable landscaping and restoration and which promote the development of the native plant industry. We specifically target these three audiences:

STUDENTS & EMERGING PROFESSIONALS, who we engage as the next generation of native plant professionals and industry leaders. We maintain a network of students (middle school through college) and young professionals to whom we provide direct financial assistance to participate in native plant education events and whom we directly engage in education and networking opportunities within the industry. We provide competition, publication and speaking opportunities for students and emerging professionals to develop and showcase their skills.

INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS, who we engage in expanding the introduction and use of native plants. We sponsor educational events and publications that help expose professionals to the diversity and opportunity in native plant horticulture and encourage the expansion of native plant production and use.

GARDENING PUBLIC, who we engage to strengthen the demand for native plants, which expands the native plant industry. We sponsor education and outreach that helps gardeners and property owners understand the benefits of using native plants, helps them find native plants and native plant professionals, and helps them use native plants successfully in a variety of settings.

Our organization is based in Florida and currently focused on the Florida native plant industry. We collaborate with industry, academic and nonprofit partners promoting the preservation and use of native plants, including but not limited to the University of Florida, Florida Association of Native Nurseries, Florida Native Plant Society and Florida Wildflower Foundation.
