Guiding Star Southwest LLC
Guiding Star Southwest is an affiliate of the national Guiding Star Project and is a comprehensive wholistic women's medical center providing compassionate trauma-informed healthcare by being both a voice and provider for whole-person care considering a woman's mind, body, and soul across the whole-spectrum of women's health from puberty through perimenopause with a focus on fertility, pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and motherhood. It is named after St. Mary, Our Lady Star of the Sea, as a guiding model of the feminine genius.
The Lily Pad Maternity Home LLC
The Lily Pad is a is a residential and transformational home for young women aged 16 and older, who find themselves in an unplanned pregnancy and needing a safe and supportive home for up to 18 months, from pregnancy to postpartum. Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Expand a coalition of initiatives across the Southwest which together end the perceived need for abortion until it is no longer profitable or sustainable through regional social entrepreneurism, innovative charity, and engaging leadership.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Remove trauma from women’s healthcare and reveal the expectation on women to alter, suppress, and destroy the normal healthy functions of their natural body by being both a voice and provider of wholistic women’s healthcare and support focused on fertility, pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and motherhood.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
(1) We are extremely cooperative and will work to build up other organizations for success even at our own loss, because our mission is bigger than ourselves. (2) Unlike many nonprofits, we have an entrepreneurial growth mindset, never be satisfied with the status quo and are always looking for the next big initiative to accomplish our larger mission with a strong focus on marketing and business strategies. (3) While some nonprofits are focused in just one city with limited reach, and national organizations can be disconnected from the local issue, we believe a regional approach is the sweet spot, because we are able to unite supporters across city and state lines to mobilize thousands for maximum impact at the local level.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
In seven years, we have raised millions of dollars and seen three local abortion centers closed in just over three years, launched a mobile medical bus, and acquired a medical clinic which we are rapidly expanding to become a model of life-affirming women's healthcare for the nation.
