Steel Guitar Festivals

Festivals include the Waikiki Steel Guitar Festival, the Kaua'i Steel Guitar Festival, the Maui Steel Guitar Festival, the Hawai'i Island Steel Guitar Festival, and Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festivals at Ka Makana Ali'i, Windward Mall, and Kahala Mall. See himele.org for dates and links to individual festival websites.

Hawaiian Steel Guitar Symposiums are a series of community-based steel guitar workshops and courses are held at various venues throughout the State of Hawai‘i and elsewhere throughout the year. The symposiums are presented to promote and perpetuate Hawaiian music and culture with specific emphasis on learning to play the Hawaiian steel guitar. No prior experience is necessary.

Symposiums make available learning opportunities for those individuals wanting to expand their knowledge of the Hawaiian steel guitar, enhance their playability, or learn playing techniques from steel guitar masters. These symposiums may be targeted to various learning groups and are conducted by steel guitar masters who are known throughout the State of Hawai‘i and are expert in sharing their knowledge and playing techniques with others. The symposiums provide live instruction in an intimate learning environment where student and teacher can interact freely. See hawaiiansteelguitarsymposium.com for info.

Livestream Steel Guitar Saturdays feature two steel guitar masters in concert along with prerecorded videos of NextGen steel guitarists in a two-hour live program.

Livestream Kanikapila Showcases feature live virtual kanikapila instead of steel guitar performances. Viewers are invited to select their favorite instrument and play along with the all-star band.

The Open Stage Showcase features prerecorded videos submitted by amateur and professional steel guitarists worldwide, performing selections of their choice. This provides an opportunity for steel guitarists to present their uncompensated performances for viewing by a worldwide audience.

Livestreams are broadcast on the Hawaiian Steel Guitar Showcase's Facebook page and YouTube channel. See hawaiiansteelguitarshowcase.com for info.
