Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Acorn Hill EAAT, Inc..
People come to our Equine Assisted Activities or Therapies (EAAT) centers because there is nothing else like it in the world. Unlike traditional therapy our work takes place in a barn, arena or trail in the woods with ponies or horses who play a key role. Our participants are too busy having fun to know they are actually “working.” Or, they find an emotional outlet while bonding with a horse that allows them to find closure and heal. Goals/objectives are met via Therapeutic Riding, Hippotherapy (treatment with the help of the horse) or during mental health counseling sessions/Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (spring 2021). Recent tragic loss has inspired a fundraiser for a covered, heated arena, necessary to avoid seasonal and weather limitations we currently face in the outdoor arena. Our goal is to build the Paul Peterson Arena: A Place for Comfort, Strength and Healing by Winter 2020, allowing us to strengthen and heal community members well past October and resume services much sooner this spring.
