Preventing tomorrow's orphans by equipping today's families through the local church
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Local leaders in the rural communities of vulnerable countries desire to help their people, but due to extreme injustice and poverty, are unable to. Thus generations of families remain helpless.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Education & Discipleship
We help pastors to train up teenage and widowed mothers, as well as vulnerable children, in vocational skills and primary and secondary education; we also offer pastors and laymen free theological education.
Microloans & Subsidies
In an effort to induce sustainability, we offer business and agricultural subsidies to increase the capital of vulnerable breadwinners, enabling them to care not only for their own families' needs such as hygiene, nutrition, shelter and school fees, but to eventually help others.
Agriculture & Livestock
We provide the equipment, land and livestock necessary for vulnerable communities to do sustainable farming so they might feed their families through the famine season.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
We aim to equip vulnerable, authentic, hard-working pastors with the tools they need in help their communities.
Specifically, the mission God has given us is to prevent tomorrow’s orphans by equipping today’s families through the local church. When the church becomes the cornerstone of a community, the downward spiral of poverty is upended as families work together to develop healthy, sustainable villages rooted in the love of Christ – and disciples are made in all nations.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
CHURCH
First and foremost, we seek to partner with pastors who are already trying to help their communities. We help them first to care for their own families through building up their small businesses, and then to build up their church families through providing church-planting, pastoral training, and education for children’s ministers and prayer warriors, helping the local church to become the cornerstone of each village.
VILLAGE
Once the church is healthy and strong, it can then reach out and assist the local village through initiatives such as sustainable farming, maternal healthcare centers and FGM rescue, and gospel outreaches, amongst others.
FAMILY
In reaching the village, churches also equip individual families through micro loans programs and education for parents.
CHILD
Finally, as a result of equipping the church to care for the village to care for the family, the most vulnerable are protected. Communities are able to care for their own orphans and elderly, in the name of Christ.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The Lulu Tree Foundation seeks to establish individual, local branches in each of the countries it works in. By principle, it does not operate as a foreign NGO in these countries, but rather, partners with locals to set up their own ministries. Our belief is that local leaders possess an understanding of the culture and environment that is essential to success in each nation. The foundation then works with the national directors, who are pastors, to determine self-sustainable goals, helping the ministry to become independently sustainable within 1-4 years. The Lulu Tree then contributes donated funds towards achieving those goals and works in partnership with local leaders as they move towards sustainability. Once sustainability has been achieved, leaders are commissioned to plant the Tree in a new location--thereby multiplying the ministry organically.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Over the past eight years, we've worked with pastors in seven different countries -- Uganda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Liberia, Guinea, Kenya, and India.
As of 2021, each of those countries have achieved a level of self-sustainability, with our focus then being re-directed to the regions and countries around them.
