What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Everyone has their favorite cause. Ours is simple – life on earth. From the yet-undiscovered species at the bottom of the sea to indigenous peoples of the most remote tribe, to the living ecosystems that support life we are all in this together. This planet, this pale blue dot, is our home and your home. It is home to every living being, and we think the planet and its occupants are worth fighting for – so that is exactly what we do.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Heart for Kenya - Medical

Developing and coordinating medical humanitarian missions with partners in the countries of Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Children's cardiac surgery program with an emphasis on inborn heart defects in the poor economic background. The long-term commitment is to train local staff during deployment missions in the hospital in Nairobi and internship programs in Slovakia. We started supporting this project in 2015, and since 2017 we are the direct coordinator of the international humanitarian mission.

Over 100 children were provided with free healthcare treatment and diagnosis.
Almost 100 medical professionals are included in the know-how and skills transfer

Since the start of March 2022, we have been cooperating on the evacuations of families with people with mental or physical disabilities from Ukraine. Our partners in the humanitarian activity are Fight For Right and The Partnership for Inclusive Disaster Strategies. We have published a call for volunteer drivers who would provide transport for families with people with mental or physical disabilities from Ukraine to Slovakia, Poland, and Germany on social media. After being transported to Slovakia and Poland, these people are adequately accommodated based on their physical or mental disabilities. During the past three weeks since the launch of this initiative, we have successfully evacuated several families thanks to our volunteer drivers. In cooperation with Kto pomôže Ukrajine?, we have delivered material help directly to the Ukrainian organization Motohelp.

We are grateful to our partners and volunteer drivers for their help and cooperation.

Population(s) Served
People with disabilities

Civic association OCHRANA PRÍRODY PODUNAJSKA ( Organization for the Nature Protection of the Danube Region) is a non-governmental organization active in nature protection. Our main goal is to contribute to the safety of the river landscape. Natural and cultural wealth can only be protected by the interest of the public, therefore we focus on increasing public awareness of the water protection issue. We in Earth Cause have been supporting the individuals in the phase of developing and creating this civic association and we have been a long-term supporter of their activities whether it is providing pro-bono services in creating informal content, consulting, and much-needed resources to drive their missions forward.

Population(s) Served

We started collecting materials and resources in January 2023 for donating medical supplies and hospital care materials that are requested from international volunteer groups providing emergency medical care and small hospitals in eastern Ukraine. We had been also collecting and distributing training and personal trauma care supplies to certified medical providers operating in the area of Ukraine, specifically in the eastern conflict zones.

We only provide medical supplies from professional suppliers and distribute them to non-combat medical professionals and international volunteers running trauma medicine training for people in Ukraine.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our areas of interest
• Humanitarian aid – Providing meals, shelter, medical aid, emergency relief in natural disasters
• Environmental conservation – Preservation of natural wetlands, essential ecosystems, biodiversity, marine habitat
• Wildlife – Protection of endangered and threatened species, preservation of habitat, fighting poaching, overfishing, shark finning, and other inhumane and/or unsustainable practices
• Sustainability – Green technology, sustainable agriculture, organic and environmentally friendly practices, building the capacity of underprivileged communities for self-improvement
• Free press – Training, safety equipment, and support for independent journalists;
• Advocacy – Educating the public about important issues, encouraging volunteerism and involvement, inspiring people to live more ethical and sustainable lifestyles

Our organization is multi-focus, with each program and project having a unique strategy. Our overall organizational plan is three-fold:
• Inspiration – Advocacy, awareness campaigns, encouragement of community involvement
• Education - Developing and distributing educational materials including documentaries and journalistic reports
• Action – Operating programs that provide direct humanitarian aid to those in need, or work to clean up and improve the environment.

We are a small organization, but we have dedicated members and a solid plan for growth. Our network of volunteers, partner organizations, and affiliations has been steadily growing, helping us establish a presence in the communities where we work. Capacity building is one of our primary focuses this year, including a new fundraising campaign continued efforts to develop our volunteer network.

In our first full two years of operation, we have fed hungry refugees, sheltered disaster victims, helped provide life-saving heart surgery to children, and more. And, we have done it with an annual budget under 20k, just a fraction of the average CEO's salary. Earth Cause is proud to be an all-volunteer organization. We don't have a large staff. In fact, we don't have a staff at all. Nor do we have any paid executives, and that includes our CEO.
As for what is next, we have plans to expand existing programs (Kenyan humanitarian aid and California disaster relief). We will also continue exhibitions of the Real Story of Refugees project, and developing the collaborative Story of River. Additionally, we have a couple of very exciting new pogroms on the horizon, which we aren't ready to release details of yet. Stay tuned for more!
