Based in Essex County, Massachusetts, Root is a social enterprise utilizing food service as an employment skills training and job placement program for at-risk youth. Root aims to provide these youth, ages 16-24, with a pathway out of the entrenched cycle of poverty through life and work readiness skills, health and nutritional education, and social capital to ensure that all students leave Root prepared for success in the workplace.
