Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Intake/Admissions
As an open-admission animal shelter, we admit animals from animal control, municipal holds, strays, and surrenders. This program also oversees a lost/found process in our community to return animals to their homes, and offers microchipping to prevent animals from being brought to the shelter in the event they leave home again.
Adoptions
Help provide community members with healthy companion animals
Place homeless animals into responsible homes
Match make over 2,000 love stories a year
Public Training
We provide obedience and behavioral training for dogs and their owners. This helps with bonding with a new pet, providing public manners, reducing unwanted behaviors, and reducing returns to the shelter.
Community Education
We have a robust volunteer program to involve our community with this work.
We regularly visit schools, organizations, student groups, businesses, and educate on animal welfare issues.
We provide presentations and building tours for transparency and education.
Pet Food Pantry
We provide pet food to our neighbors in need to help them access resources and be able to keep their pet with them, despite economic hardships
Community Clinic
HHHS now offers low-cost spay-neuter services for publicly owned pets to help reduce pet overpopulation. Our clinic offers this service to qualifying low-income pet guardians. We also offer reduced cost parvo treatments, as well as free and reduced vaccines for publicly owned pets to decrease transmittable diseases in our community
