Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Access and Equity for All Fund
The Parks & Recreation Foundation of Johnson County seeks to reduce barriers to participation for the arts, parks and recreation in the largest county in the State of Kansas. The fund provides scholarships, internships, equipment and supplies for Johnson County Park and Recreation District outdoor education, recreation and arts/culture programs for seniors, special populations, and disadvantaged and underrepresented communities in the greater Kansas City area. Additionally, funding supports ADA planning, compliance and expansion of accommodations in parks, trails and facilities enjoyed by over 10 million visitors annually.
Conservation and Connectivity Program
The Parks & Recreation Foundation of Johnson County seeks to protect land, stream valleys, lakes and ponds to provide future park lands, trails and recreational facilities for the fast developing region of Johnson County, Kansas. Through land acquisition, conservation easements, land gifts or bequests, the Foundation is preserving the conservation values and the environmental resilience of residents and downstream communities for present and future generations. Since its inception in 1977, the Foundation has protected over 1600 acres of land and currently holds 229 acres for conservation and recreational purposes.
