What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
The Tanganyika Wildlife Foundation's primary beneficiary is Tanganyika Wildlife Park whose mission is to educate the public about endangered and native species while increasing the population of certain species through quality breeding programs. Tanganyika Wildlife Park is accredited by the Zoological Association of America and is currently home to approximately 30 species of animals including: Reticulated Giraffes, Colobus Monkeys, Indian Rhinos, Red Pandas, Lories, Lemurs, White Bengal Tigers, Grevy Zebras, etc. The Park also has the largest collection of snow leopards in the US and the largest collection of Clouded Leopards in the world.
As the Foundation grows, it hopes to support more conservation projects globally.
Cheetah Project
The Cheetah Project concerns the endangered and awe inspiring Cheetah. The plight of the cheetah can be traced to a dramatic climatic change 5,000 years ago that nearly wiped out the entire population. As a result, all Cheetahs are very closely related, which has made them very fragile genetically.
The Cheetah Foundation in South Africa has actively worked to reintroduce and establish a viable population of cheetah in the Free State of South Africa.
The Cheetah Foundation has partnered with the Species Survival Fund and Tanganyika Wildlife Park to establish a primary breeding facility in the United States. TWP has had unparalleled success breading other endangered cats including Clouded Leopards and Snow Leopards.
