Goals & Strategy
Learn about the organization's key goals, strategies, capabilities, and progress.
Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our goals and priorities are to: 1) Help adults, adolescents, children and families deal with life's challenges, cope and find solutions to problems; 2) Help older and physically challenged adults lead independent and fulfilling lives; and 3) Help youth develop critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Growth Plan Goals:
1. People: JFS will build on the strength of its people and reputation ensuring that direct services staff represent the top talent in the industry and the agency’s administrative staff can sufficiently support the entirety of the agency’s functions. Through its expertise, dedication, resources, connections, and talent, JFS Board of Directors will help the agency meet its goals.
2. Strategy: JFS Board of Directors, in partnership with its professional leadership team, will develop a realistic and innovative strategic plan.
3. Revenue: JFS will re-energize revenue growth and establish reliable vehicles that ensure sustainability to cover expenses associated with running the organization and maintaining a commitment to those services and populations for which the funding to meet their needs at the highest quality is limited or in jeopardy. JFS will also rebuild our reserves to ensure financial stability.
4. Programs & Outcomes: JFS will develop and implement a system that tracks every program’s outcomes with accuracy and ease of documentation and reporting to both report on impact and utilize for continuous quality improvement.
5. Narrative: JFS will establish a system for collection, storage and dissemination of the agency’s impact story. JFS will also utilize multiple vehicles, with consistency, to share its story of impact, establish itself as a thought leader, and further promote its brand.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
With leadership from the board of directors, JFS works towards achieving financial sustainability. JFS is professionally led by an expert leadership team that provides support and oversight of all activities. In addition, JFS has worked hard to develop, nurture and maintain collaborations with other local institutions for the benefit of its clients and to ensure comprehensive seamless care.
We provide a multitude of strength-based approaches and evidenced based therapeutic interventions such as trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Our licensed clinical staff is specifically trained and experienced in treating mental health issues, substance use, co-occurring disorders, anger management, trauma, PTSD, grief, ADHD, eating disorders, gender issues, borderline personality disorders, self-injury, depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorders. Utilization of evidenced based practices allows JFS to maintain a standard of care that is supported through measurable outcomes.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?

- We review compensation data across the organization (and by staff levels) to identify disparities by race.
- We analyze disaggregated data and root causes of race disparities that impact the organization's programs, portfolios, and the populations served.
- We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
- We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
- We disaggregate data by demographics, including race, in every policy and program measured.
- We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
- We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
- We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
- We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
- We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
