Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our mission is the following:
1. Expand access and opportunity for students of all ages;
2. Improve the quality and diversity of instructional offerings;
3. Support the professional development of an outstanding faculty and staff;
4. Purchase leading edge technology for classrooms and learning laboratories; and
5. Enhance College facilities to create an efficient and stimulating learning environment.
We do this through securing private gifts, grants and bequests.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We are striving to provide a first class donor recognition and reporting program that appropriately thanks our donors for their support and provides them with current information as to how their gifts were utilized, who their scholarship recipients were (where applicable), and how those recipients have benefited from their donors' generosity.
Bakersfield College is working to enhance its alumni relations efforts through expanding its alumni database and providing benefits to its alumni who stay connected to the College.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We've added additional staffing and have acquired new database software to enhance our ability to manage our donor relations, financial aid, and alumni relations efforts. This has been made possible by the very generous gifts that the Foundation has received.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
With the addition of a Scholarship Manager we have made tremendous progress in cleaning up our scholarship process and in getting more students to apply. The addition of a Financial Information Manager position has enabled us to streamline our financial reports, providing more accurate and detailed information to both our board and our donors. We finally are utilizing our new software in a manner that makes everything work smoother and faster. Our next major goal is to utilize our increased staff to expand and improve our alumni relations efforts and our alumni giving program.
