Museum of Culpeper History

The Museum of Culpeper History showcases the rich history and interprets the significant events that shapes Culpeper today. From the dinosaurs that roamed the area during the Triassic period to the soldiers that camped and fought here during the Civil War there is so much to discover!

The Museum is open seven days a week, from 10:00am-5:00pm Monday to Saturday and 1:00pm-5:00pm Sunday.

The Museum of Culpeper History aspires to improve Culpeper’s knowledge and understanding of the significant historical events that occurred locally and formed the community we know today.

Through the Museum's galleries, exhibits, programs, and events the Museum reaches tourists and visitors alike with fresh perspectives on historical subjects featuring Culpeper's vast and rich history.

Headed by a full-time Executive Director together with a professional staff and dedicated volunteers the Museum is open seven days a week in a beautifully restored historic train station with phenomenal exhibit space, galleries, and cases.

More than forty years after opening, the Museum is now a vital component within Culpeper's tourism industry, attracting visitors from throughout the country and also globally. With a professional staff, a group of dedicated Board members and volunteers, and the support of the local community the Museum is thriving in the heart of downtown Culpeper - a Great American Main Street award winner in 2012!
