Mission

Since it was established in 1989, Beebe Medical Foundation has been raising money to help fulfill Beebe Healthcare's not-for-profit charitable mission, which is to encourage healthy living, prevent illness, and restore optimal health to the people residing, working, or visiting the communities it serves. As an independent, not-for-profit hospital, Beebe Healthcare could not serve our growing community without local philanthropy. Beebe Healthcare remains an independent community health system with a vision of making Sussex County one of the healthiest counties in the nation.

What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

The way people receive healthcare services is changing rapidly across the country, and Beebe has been changing how it cares for this community, too. Since the peak in hospital admissions reached early last year, Beebe has successfully reduced the number of people who need to stay in the hospital, through its efforts to broaden and elevate its outpatient care, and keep people healthy. With a greater emphasis on outpatient care, prevention, and care coordination, Beebe’s Board of Directors plans to enhance and expand access to advanced medical technologies and outpatient services rather than proceeding with the construction of additional inpatient rooms on the Lewes Campus.

Goals & Strategy

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Private support from individuals, corporations and foundations helps make this mission more attainable, and Beebe’s vision to see Sussex County become one of the healthiest counties in the nation.

For the difference in meeting our fundraising goal, we will be submitting grants to Welfare Foundation, Crystal Trust, Laffey McHugh, Marmot Foundation, and Crestlea and hope for a total of $1 million or more. If we are fortunate to receive Longwood’s and these other Foundations’ generous support, it will leave just over $600K to raise during the public phase of the campaign, when we anticipate small gifts from many donors. Any funds raised over the proposed campaign goal have been slated to help fund and fit out the shelled floor for the Women’s and Children's Center on Rt. 24 in Rehoboth.

Having run multiple successful capital campaigns over Beebe Healthcare's 102 year history, the Foundation working with hospital leadership continues to steward long time donor, community leaders and grateful patients to raise the funds required for the ambitious three campus growth over the next few years.

We have just announced the leadership phase of the new Sussex Supports Beebe Healthcare Campaign with a goal of $22.5M and have already raised over $13M toward the goal.
