Community Ministry of Prince George's County (CMPGC) seeks to help alleviate poverty and reduce health inequalities that exist in several neighborhoods and communities in Prince George's County, Maryland (MD) and similar comunities.

Community Place Cafe
Offers free lunch to homeless, near homeless, and no to low income residents of Prince George's County, Maryland.
M-PACT- Men's Prostate Awareness Church Training
Men’s Prostate Awareness Church Training (M-PACT) led by the School of Public Health at University of Maryland, aims to increase awareness of prostate cancer among African American men by partnering with twenty (20) African American churches in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Project HEAL
Project HEAL also led by University of Maryland, aims to identify the best way to implement evidence-based strategies to increasing cancer screening behaviors, through over fourteen (14) Prince George’s County based African American churches. For more information, click www.champhealth.org.
Stop The Violence Save Our Leaders
Core function of the program is to provide a series of workshops and activities to educate youth about strategies and practices they can choose of adopt to prevent and/or reduce occurrences of violence in their lives.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Help homeless, near homeless, and low-income residents in Prince George's County, Maryland obtain basic human services support.
Develop and implement education and research projects and activities, particularly concerning early cancer detection, to help reduce health inequities experienced by African American and other minorities.
Promote awareness and education to help youth and young adults reduce their involvement in violence.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
In partnership with 21 Faith-based organizations, 5 other non-profit organization, and others CMPGC operateS the Community Place Café to provide homeless, near homeless, and low-income guests over 23,000 free lunch meals a year.
In partnership with the Capital Area Food Bank, distribute free vegetables, fruits, and other food items to needy families and individuals through CMPGC's operation of 6 food distribution events per month from sites located in Seat Pleasant, Capitol Heights, Hyattsville, and Oxon Hill, MD.
In partnership with the University of Maryland School of Public Health and Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health, develop and implement cancer education and research projects in African American churches and communities throughout Prince George's County and Baltimore, MD
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Led by executive director who is highly experienced in community engagement and conduct of projects and activities to help reduce cancer inequities that exist in African American and other minority communities.
Chief Financial Officer is highly experienced in performing financial control functions and activities.
Staffed with adequate coordinators to implement human service program to include conduct of free lunch program and free vegetables, produce, and food assistance program.
Supported by large number of volunteers that help implement programs and activities.
Organization is equipped with modern computer and communications resources and support.
Organization operates a Community Place Café, supporting serving and storage resources that can seat 80-100 guests and supporting the organization's free lunch program.
Resources available on-site to support emergency food and clothing pantry and shower facilities for separate use by homeless men and women.
Partnerships in place with large number of faith-based and community organizations that provide resources and food for Community Place Café operations, vegetables and fruits for distributions, and partners for conduct of health education and research particularly focusing on cancer education and research.
