What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Generals & Admirals Program
In 1981, JINSA created its Generals and Admirals (G&A) Program to educate recently retired U.S. general officers on the importance of a robust U.S.-Israel security partnership for America’s national security. JINSA brings 12-15 of these officers to Israel and Jordan annually for nine days of meetings with top Israeli and Jordanian military, intelligence, and government leaders – including the Israeli Prime Minister, Israeli Minister of Defense, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff, Director of Mossad, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Jordanian Armed Forces, Chief of the General Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces, and Director of Jordanian Intelligence. JINSA’s G&A Program participants also visit IDF bases and key border locations to learn about Israel’s defense capabilities and security challenges, and to be prepared to serve as effective policy advocates on behalf of the U.S.-Israeli strategic partnership. To date, over 400 retired general officers have participated in the G&A Program, including Combatant Command (COCOM) commanders (four-star generals/admirals who command a specific geographic command, e.g., SOUTHCOM for Latin America, EUCOM for Europe, PACOM for Pacific Command, etc.), service chiefs and two Vice-Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
IDF Leadership Education Program
JINSA's IDF Leadership Education Program is a unique educational program that educates rising and senior active duty officers from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) about the United States.
Military Leadership Education Institute (MLEI)
Inaugurated in 2016, JINSA’s Military Leadership Education Program educates current and future leaders from the militaries of key U.S. allies, primary in the Middle East, about elements that impact U.S. foreign policy through high-level briefings and visits to key sites, such as Capitol Hill, the Pentagon, Quantico, and Gettysburg. The program is divided into several courses including a course for active-duty IDF brigadier generals through JINSA’s Zuckerman IDF Generals Education Program, and a course for elite Israeli Air Force lieutenant colonels handpicked by the Commander of the IAF, and more.
JINSA’s Zuckerman IDF Generals Education Program, which received the approval of the IDF Chief of the General Staff LTG Aviv Kochavi and support of the Commander of the IDF Military Colleges MG Itai Veruv, will be a pillar of JINSA’s MLEI.
