Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Equal Justice Works is the nation’s largest facilitator of opportunities in public interest law. We bring together an extensive network of law students, lawyers, legal services organizations, and supporters to promote a lifelong commitment to public service and equal justice. Following their Fellowships, more than 85% of our Fellows remain in public service positions, continuing to pursue equal justice for underserved communities across the country.

We believe that a community of lawyers committed to public service can fulfill our nation’s promise of equal justice for all.

Equal Justice Works facilitates law internship positions through its Fellowship programs; connects over 1,400 law students with public interest law opportunities at its annual public interest law Conference and Career Fair; and addresses the legal needs of underserved communities across the country through its Fellowship programs that equip new public interest lawyers with the training, skills, and resources needed to provide effective legal representation and launch their public interest careers.

Additionally, the organization takes a leadership role in breaking down educational debt barriers that prevent talented attorneys from pursuing public interest careers. Equal Justice Works provides law students with resources on how to manage student debt and advocates to protect Public Service Loan Forgiveness, an affordable and critical investment that directly benefits society through helping communities attract and retain high-quality public service professionals.

As the nation's largest provider of public interest law Fellowships, Equal Justice Works garners support from the full spectrum of the legal world (law firms, nonprofit organizations, law schools, corporations, the federal government, and many more) to create public interest opportunities for law students and lawyers to work across the country to provide quality legal assistance to underserved communities and causes.

For more than three decades, Equal Justice Works has attracted powerful support from law firms, corporations, foundations, and individuals; expanded law school engagement with more than 98 percent of ABA-accredited schools; and created an alumni association that populates some of the top positions at public interest groups around the country.

The organization boasts an impressive renewal rate between 80 to 90 percent among corporate and law firm sponsors for its private Fellowship program, and more than 85 percent of Equal Justice Works Fellows remain in public interest law after their Fellowship ends.

Equal Justice Works will continue on its mission to fuel the appetite of well-qualified law students and new lawyers to engage in public service and help fulfill our nation's promise of equal justice for all.
