What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
1)Out of SchoolYouth Year Round Program! (ARCH YO!):
Program Overview: ARCH is part of a partnership of community organizations chosen by the DC Government to be part of this program. It introduces out-of-school District youth to a variety of careers by combining school-based learning with work-based learning experiences. Youth ages 16 to 24 gain valuable insight and achieve basic skills required to succeed in the workplace.
Employers provide experiences that will eventually result in a pool of qualified applicants prepared to compete in the 21st century workplace.
2)Youthbuild
Purpose: Unleash the positive energy of young adults, helping them rebuild our community and their own lives with a commitment to work, education, responsibility, and family.
Summary: Youthbuild is a comprehensive 10 ? 16 month program in which unemployed or under-employed individuals ages 16 to 24 build or rehabilitate housing for low to moderate-income level individuals and families. While participating in the program, students receive academic enhancement education, construction skills training, community leadership preparation and guidance/career counseling.
3)KidPledge
Summary:
A practical program that uses the goal of literacy to develop fun and educational opportunities for in-school at-risk youth, ages 6 to 12 after-school and full day summer program. KidPledge has successfully transformed two sites in Ward 8, Atlantic Terrace and Forrest Ridge, into an after school haven for neighborhood kids east of the Anacostia River . These programs are non-exclusive after school and full-day summer initiatives. Over the past four years, KidPledge has developed a curriculum that ties technology to academic creativity using project-based electives, multi-media tools, as well as tutoring with schoolwork.
4)ARCH JOBS
Summary: This program provides case management and career transition services to DC TANF clients. It also provides an assessment of the educational and training needs necessary for current welfare recipients to improve or enhance skills that will provide more opportunity for employment at a living wage, for themselves and their families. This programs helps to transition TANF recipients into livable wage jobs without losing their benefits.
Fatherhood Initiative
Summary:
Provides a comprehensive array of services, pairing intensive academic preparation with career oriented occupational skills training, which includes, an intensive GED preparatory course to prepare DC Fathers to achieve their educational and vocational goals. The curriculum is a workforce development model, designed to assist fathers to set and reach educational and vocational goals, provide for their children and secure stable living wage employment.
