What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Leadership Premier
LHC's signature, ten-month program for senior-level and community leaders to learn about the many issues impacting Howard County and how they can make a difference. Participants are immersed in experiences addressing specific aspects of our community through session days that provide a hands-on look at what's happening in that field; the opportunity to hear from leaders of organizations and the key issues they are addressing, and often, take part in site visits and hear first-hand accounts of those who deliver services to the community. In addition to session days, participants work on various small team, community impact projects, as well as take part in learning opportunities which are experiential, behind-the-scenes visits that provide a deeper understanding of issues, attractions, and community topics.
Leadership Essentials
Run in collaboration with Loyola University MD, this 6-month program allows emerging leaders to further develop their leadership skills through monthly workshops, individual coaching, and participation on a team-based project to address the needs of local non-profit organizations.
Leadership U
Designed for high school students that are entering their junior year, and live and or go to school in Howard County, Leadership U is a unique 4-month leadership development and community service program that empowers students to learn by doing and fosters leadership growth and civic engagement through three pillar areas:
1. Education on community issues.
2. Student-developed community service projects.
3. Development of students' unique leadership skills
Leadership Alumni
As a graduate of Leadership Howard County, taking your place is important to the entire community and many alumni hold key leadership positions on various non-profit boards and organizations, including LHC supporting our various programs that create opportunities for continued engagement.
