Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Forest Campaign
EIA’s Forest Campaign protects the world’s forests and the people, wildlife, and global climate that depend on them, by exposing illegal timber operations through undercover investigations, campaigning for domestic laws that ban imports of products made from illegally cut timber, partnering with businesses and trade associations to make timber supply legal worldwide through the Forest Legality Alliance, advocating for forest protection and governance safeguards in free trade policies, and strengthening forest governance, which in turn helps communities to thrive and forests to remain standing.
Climate Campaign
EIA’s Climate campaign focuses on international and domestic policies to phase-down hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) – potent greenhouse gases (GHGs) used primarily in refrigeration, air conditioning, and foam applications. As part of our work, we have undertaken groundbreaking investigations into the illegal trade in ozone-depleting substances (ODS) and have been closely involved in international ozone and climate negotiations for more than a decade.
Wildlife Campaign
EIA’s wildlife campaign delivers lasting protections for some of the world's most iconic species threatened by illegal trade and habitat degradation. Since its inception in 1984, EIA has been dedicated to protecting our world’s wildlife, relying on the best available scientific and trade data and intelligence from investigations, to support policies and actions that protect threatened and endangered species. EIA’s work focuses on stopping the illegal and unsustainable killing of, and trade in, threatened and endangered species like elephants and rhinos, and protecting the Arctic home of belugas and other whales and the forest habitats of great apes like orangutans.
