Mission

Founded in 1991 as the Japan Information Access Project, the name was change in 2006 to the Asia Policy Point to better reflect its mission and work. APP assists the greater US policy community to access and evaluate Japanese and Asian foreign and domestic public policies. APP strives to bring to Washington the best and newest research and analysis on Asia.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

APP educates its members and the public through publications, research papers, the Internet, and public and private programs. APP publishes weekly the Asia Policy Calendar that reviews events, news, research, and opinion regarding Japan and Northeast Asia. APP also hosts a private study group, The Asia Group, for women Asia security professionals. JIAP (Japan Information Access Project) remains as a program at APP to focus on Japan research.
