What we aim to solve
It is estimated that eight in 1,000 children are born with congenital heart disease. Though most of these children have correctable conditions, the majority will die before the age of 20 because their home countries lack facilities or medical practitioners with the skills necessary to perform the lifesaving surgery these children need. SACH's critical work saves the lives of as many children as possible by correcting this treatable condition and by improving the medical capacity in developing countries so that local doctors can do the same.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Heart Surgery for Children from Developing Countries
The program provides lifesaving heart surgery for more than 300 children a year from developing countries. It costs $15,000 to save the life of one child, and this includes all hospital costs and room and board in our Children's Home. The medical team volunteers its time and services.
Medical training for medical personnel from developing countries
We train medical personnel from developing countries and have trained Tanzania's and Ethiopia's first pediatric cardiac surgeons.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The Save a Child's Heart Foundation intends to increase its capacity for performing heart surgery on dying children from developing countries. We currently perform over 300 operations a year. By 2025 we plan to treat 1,650 children annually from 80 countries by establishing an International Pediatric Cardiac center at the Wolfson Medical Center.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We have built a new Children's Hospital and International Pediatric Cardiac Care Center at the Wolfson Medical Center in Holon that will increase our capacity to treat more children and train more doctors.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We are expanding our fundraising and support staff. We have expanded our PR and Marketing efforts to attract more donors and volunteers. We have diversified our Board of Directors and expanded its size. We have a broad-based, grass roots group of young professionals throughout the U.S. that will support our fundraising efforts and staff.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
The new Children's Hospital has now opened and will house the Middle East's first international pediatric cardiac care center.
