What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Legislative Education - Women Members of Congress, women chiefs of staff
WCPI sponsors briefings, meetings, and receptions for the women Members of Congress both to educate policymakers and to strengthen relationships across party lines.
Women Chiefs of Staff program: The program is intended to foster bicameral personal relationships across party lines, to build a support network for women chiefs of staff, committee staff directors, and senior leadership staff, and to develop bipartisan women's leadership.
Congressional Fellowships on Women and Public Policy
The Congressional Fellowships on Women and Public Policy are extended to a select number of students pursuing or having recently completed a graduate degree and who display a proven commitment to equity for women. Fellows work in congressional offices as a legislative assistant for seven months. Formerly the WREI Fellows program, WCPI became the home of the fellowships in late 2013.
Congressional Briefings
WCPI sponsors congressional staff briefings, with three briefing series: women's health, international issues, and 21st century workforce issues. The briefings are open to the public, in addition to congressional staff and Members of Congress. Many are webcast as well to better reach interested members of the public.
Weekly Legislative Update
WCPI publishes a weekly legislative update, free to the public, which reports on legislative actions affecting women and their families. This report includes the weekly congressional schedule on a range of issues related to women and their families, bills introduced, and a searchable database of articles.
