Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Wildlife Rapid Rescue Team
In collaboration with Cambodian law enforcement
agencies. Wildlife Alliance counters the trade by stopping shipments of
wildlife products on national roads and cities throughout Cambodia and
on the borders of other Southeast Asian nations.
Care for Rescued Wildlife
Wildlife Alliance's Care for Rescued Wildlife program
supports a government-managed wildlife rescue center that provides a
refuge for victims of the illegal wildlife trade. Wildlife Alliance
supports key staff positions at PTWRC such as animal husbandry
specialists and veterinarians, and funds and designs appropriate
enclosures, veterinary care, and feeding for tigers, gibbons,
elephants, and many other wildlife species.
Southern Cardamom Forest Protection Program
Cambodia's Southern Cardamom Mountains face severe land encroachment, illegal logging and wildlife poaching which is destroying elephant habitats and damaging the ecosystem. Our strategy is recruiting, training, and assisting groups of ranger patrol units who protect endangered species and habitats.
Kouprey Express Mobile Environmental Education Program
Wildlife Alliance launched the acclaimed Kouprey Express
mobile education center to teach Cambodian villagers of wildlife and
forestry laws and help them manage their resources while protecting
high-biodiversity areas in rural Cambodia including villages, schools,
and community centers.
Community-Based Ecotourism
Wildlife Alliance is working with rural communities to
protect the environment and wildlife in the heart of the Cardamom
Mountains by creating economic opportunities through ecotourism
development. Activities like trekking, mountain biking, wildlife and
bird viewing, and visits to ancient burial sites are all available, and all support local communities in the non-destructive use of their surrounding environment.
