Mission

Mid-Atlantic German Shepherd Rescue is dedicated to rehabilitating and providing a second chance to German shepherds and shepherd mixes that have been abandoned, abused, lost, strayed, or surrendered. Through our community outreach events around the Mid-Atlantic region, we teach and encourage responsible pet ownership and pet population control. Our all-volunteer organization works diligently to locate loving and responsible owners who wish to make their new dog(s) members of their family -- forever. MAGSR remains committed to helping end the needless overpopulation, death, abuse, and neglect of dogs in our area and in improving the lives of the dogs as well as their new owners

What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Problem - Dogs that are not spayed or neutered results in unwanted and uncared for puppies We aim to reduce unwanted puppies by requiring that all of our dogs are spayed or neutered including puppies at the appropriate age. We fund all neuter/spay of adults dogs that come into the rescue. Our adoption contract requires all puppies to be neutered or spayed upon reaching an appropriate age which we commit to paying for. We also will accept pregnant female dogs and puppies into the organization to reduce more unwanted puppies.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

1. Spay/neuter all adult dogs.
2. Contractual requirement for any adopted puppies to be spayed or neutered at the appropriate age and fund the surgery.

1. Primarily fund raising so that we have the money to pay for the surgeries.
2. Information campaign to reduce unwanted puppies and the importance of spay and neuter.

1. Strong donor support.
2. Solid base of volunteers to support the organization and the dogs.

We have been successful in our fundraising efforts to ensure we can afford to pay for spay/neuters.
