Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
We would like for every community that has a housing need and people capable and interest in helping people to meet those needs join The Fuller Center and adopt the grass-roots, common-sense, Christian principles that have been so successful in empowering families around the world, thus breaking a cycle of dependence and poverty.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We believe that local leaders are best suited to determine how to help people in their own community, but we make available our expertise and help share knowledge that empower these leaders in effectively addressing housing problems in their community. We are particularly engaged with the church community, emphasizing the importance of putting faith into action.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
With a growing Global Builders volunteer program, our international work is growing year after year. In the United States, more people are learning about our hand-up principles of partnership and want to start covenant partners in their communities. We have very low overhead at our headquarters and are focused on maximizing donors' gifts to put as many dollars to work in the field as possible.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have partnered with more than 6,000 families worldwide to help them have simple, decent homes. We have numerous places where we could do so much more with an increase in donations. Because the families repay costs of materials with zero-percent-interest mortgage payments that stay in the local community, it literally means that the more we build, the more we CAN build. This is particularly true in countries like Haiti, Nepal, Madagascar, El Salvador and Armenia where house counts grow and accelerate each year.
