Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Sunday Speaker Series
We host monthly history talks by researchers and other experts whose presentations illuminate some aspect of the history of Baltimore County and its surrounding areas.
Library/Research Center
During our weekly public hours and by appointment, we open our collections and provide skilled library assistance to patrons researching genealogy, historic properties and myriad other topics related to Baltimore County history.
Collections
We house and care for collections comprised of approximately 9,000 museum artifacts, 8,000 historic photographs, more than 2,000 subject files and 8,000 genealogy files, 500 historic maps and atlases, 4,000 library volumes and hundreds of newspapers, journals, memoirs, oral histories and other resources.
Publications
We produce a bi-monthly newsletter and a quarterly history journal, History Trails. The newsletter is a mix of short historical features, puzzles, and news of the organization and our friends. History Trails, which marked its 50th anniversary in 2016, presents a single research-drive article, with illustrations and scholarly citations, in each issue. On occasion we publish additional single-volume publications, such as books, booklets or historic maps.
Local Water Exhibit
Exhibit of our relationship with water. Natural, industrial, cultural, recreational, and environmental history.
