Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

CSI seeks to provide members the knowledge they need to improve product delivery. In short, CSI has created a central hub of technical information that's easy to access at our members’ time and place of need. We provide construction standards via MasterFormat, OmniFormat, and UniFormat and are the only space where practitioners from across the industry can come to talk. We also offer uniquely valued certifications that valued and recognized in the industry.

At CSI we Connect, Educate, and Certify.

We provide members the ability to connect with their colleagues via in-person events and via our members-only online community. CSI members receive full access to our interactive website and online community and message board organized in multiple ways for members to best find the information they are interested in.

CSI offers members exceptional educational experiences, from in-person professional and personal development programs tailored to every level and position function to our virtual Learning Library offering on-demand education that members have access to whenever and however they wish.

We also provide the opportunity to our members to stand out from their colleagues by earning their Certification. CSI’s certifications are recognized throughout the industry as evidence of a proven level of education, knowledge, and experience in construction documents.

CSI has the resources, the clout in the industry and the reputational brand to implement and execute the strategies outlined in our mission under the direction of our governing board. We also have one of the most professional and highly sought after AEC professionals memberships in the industry.

The past several years have been focused on re-positioning CSI in the industry and enhancing the value proposition to members and the audiences we serve. CSI has seen great success from this standpoint in the validation of industry-wide standards, the enhancement of program offerings and the elevation of our four certifications to gold-standard status using digital badging as an enhanced distribution and verification tool. We have achieved 90% of our measurable goals.

Looking to the future, CSI will continue to forge into the digital landscape. While traditionally not viewed as a technologically advanced professional demographic, CSI will be launching a cutting-edge technology platform that creates a construction information exchange between the three standards offered by CSI. Not only will users have the ability to combine prior variations of the standards, but more groundbreaking, it will offer a crosswalk between the three constructs – the first time something of this nature has ever been offered.

Data
  • We review compensation data across the organization (and by staff levels) to identify disparities by race.
  • We analyze disaggregated data and root causes of race disparities that impact the organization's programs, portfolios, and the populations served.
  • We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
  • We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
Policies and processes
  • We use a vetting process to identify vendors and partners that share our commitment to race equity.
  • We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
  • We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
  • We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
