What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
We are a local affiliate of Y-ME currently serving DC, Maryland and Virginia. Besides providing peer counselors to support Y-ME's 24/7 Hotline we provide free educational workshops (English and Spanish) in the community on breast cancer/health awareness. A 30- or 60-minute workshop provides information on women's health, breast self examination and breast cancer at civic, church and social meetings, local business, federal agencies, senior centers, halfway houses, rehab and homeless shelters.
Participation in health fairs, festivals and public gatherings to disseminate information.
AT YOUR FINGERTIPS... A Resource Guide for Breast Cancer Patients an 8 chapter booklet listing national and local resources for breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Pink Ribbon Partnership - Outreach tothe medical community. At Your Fingertips and other Y-ME literature provided free of charge to those faciliteis treating breast cancer patients.
Coming in 2008 -- Open Door Lectures and Support Group Meetings.
